Adopting through OCS gives information about the process of adopting from the State of Alaska foster care system. This class covers topics of interest to families in the process of adopting or interested in adopting from the Office of Children's Services.  Information includes the role of adoption in child welfare, preparing your family and the child for adoption, adoption home studies, subsidies, the adoption finalization process and availability of post-adoption supports.

The Core Training for Resource Families is a preparation course for licensed foster parents in the State of Alaska. This course prepares you to work with the State of Alaska Office of Children's Services and prepares you to understand the children that are placed in your home. Core is required of all newly licensed foster homes. This course can fill that requirement for resource families in rural areas of the state but needs pre-approval by your licensing worker if you live in Anchorage or Fairbanks.
